7.0.0 RELATIONS WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS MATI-Ilonga is within reach to Eastern Zone Research Headquarters. Research facilities are accessible to students and farmers, cereal, cotton, oil seed, legume, plant protection and meteorological weather station. The nearby villages are useful learning sites where students are attached to farmers on individual and group basis in outreach and field practical programmes. During such training activities students learn more about agricultural practices under farmer circumstances. There are formal linkage between MATI-Ilonga and other MATIs viz Uyole, Ukiriguru, Igurusi, Mlingano, Mtwara, Tumbi etc. However, linkage between the institute and district, NGOs such as World Vision, WWF are informal. Districts and NGOs sponsor some students/farmers’ training at the institute. MATI Ilonga is among the four Agricultural Training Institutes in Tanzania involved in training small scale irrigated rice farmers in Tanzania under the Technical Cooperation in Supporting Service Delivery Systems of Irrigated Agriculture (TC – SDIA)/TANRICE Program.
